Back From Camp Hoblizelle

Thank you so much for visiting this site. I hope you found it to be simple and informative.

I just returned from Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian TX. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Camp Hoblitzelle is a ranch that is owned and operated by the Salvation Army. I learned about the Salvation Army and all the different types of ministry the Army does to serve others. I was completely amazed at the level of service, devotion and love that is poured out every day to all different kinds of people, not just in the U.S. but all across the world. It was an honor to share the love of Christ with such a fun and loving group of ladies.

During one session at Camp HobIitzelle, I spoke about anger and one way to handle anger when you feel it's about to get out of control. Here are several scriptures I use that help me.

In fact, I have these scriptures hanging on my refrigerator and when I feel I am about to loose control, I grab them and read them before I loose it. I call this my Polar Bear Alert! ( An idea I read in a book called Counter Attack by Jay Carty.) A polar bear looks like a warm and cuddly creature, but if you get to close it would attack you. I've explained to my son Hampton who is seven, that my temper is much like a polar bear. Often when I do get mad, my family becomes the object of my wrath, when they should be able to approach me without getting attacked. Many times Hampton has taken what I call my Polar Bear Alert off the refrigerator and handed them to me right in the middle of loosing my temper. My response is that I stop and read my PBA, gain some self control and handle the situation with a little more wisdom.

Psalm 37:8
Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.

Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Romans 6:11
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin ( or in this case dead to anger) but alive to God ( or alive to self control which is a fruit of the spirit) in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 29:11
11 A fool always loses his temper,
But a wise man holds it back.

James 1:19 (New International Version)
19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

Once again, Thank you so much for visiting this site. I would love to hear from you.

In Him,
